2 Gannets -IF

191.SOLD
My name is Alison Edgson and I am a children's book illustrator from Northern Ireland. I currently live in South East Wales and my work can be seen at my blog - http://alisillustrationblog.blogspot.com/

This is an original watercolour painting of a pair of gannets on a black background. I love gannets - they're stunning birds and I chose the subject because I believe a northern gannet was one of the first birds to be picked up and cleaned after the gulf oil spill.

Each card is available for a $10 donation. See details at right

Aussie Ripple -IF

189.SOLD
Its a lovely fundraiser you are making, and I wanted to send through a sketch about this topic. I wanted to draw something that represented some of the love I have for the ocean, and I guess hope for us all - it is so sad to see continual reminders of how humans continue to destroy the earth. We are far away (in Australia) but are shocked and saddened to see images from the oil spill and thoughts are with the affected animals and people. Meanwhile, there are discussions around new oil drills being built off from some of our beautiful beaches and reefs, such a Margaret River in West Australia. :(

Anyway, this is a little line drawing on paper and I thought I would submit to your cause.

Thank you,

I really wanted to do something to help, especially after seeing countless pictures of these poor animals dying because of the oil and the people who are loosing their livelihood. I live in Texas, and even though the oil hasn't reached our shores just yet, we are still connected to those it has. I had each of my three children draw a picture of the oil problem through their eyes. I drew one from a picture that tugs at my heartstrings every time I see it.
These are digital pictures drawn using an art program called ArtRage on a wacom tablet. You will be getting a print on postcard quality paper.
Kelly Light, thanks for starting such a marvelous website.

My own small way -IF

180.SOLD

Heather Jones

"I heard about what you were doing to help the animals in the gulf from an artist friend of mine, and I jumped on the chance to contribute.
I am a part-time graphic designer and aspiring art teacher with an illustration degree. My favorite things to draw are whimsical animal and food characters in a variety of (often silly) situations. Everything is sketched out in pencil and then the finished product is done digitally in Adobe Illustrator.
I have always been an animal lover, and it makes me beyond happy to know that in my own small way, I am helping those poor little victims of the oil spill."

" I am humbled by this effort to be charitable and not angry in the face of what is happening in the Gulf. I had felt helpless and very affected by this disaster, but I feel like this is the appropriate action for me to take as an artist. It is folks like this who put this blog together that make the difference between just watching the news and 'feeling' the news. I dont have to feel helpless anymore. Praying that the earth is stronger and more forgiving than us.... "

"'I'm an Illustrator living in Dallas Texas, but I grew up in Florida and in the Marshall Islands, so the beach and the ocean was a huge part of my life growing up. So this is my little entry. I call it Inedible Anchovy, Personally I think that statement is a little redundant. Anyway it represents both the ecological and financial toll with the impact on the fishing industry. The painting is Acrylic on illustration board. "
