732. SOLD Citations for Hurting Cetaceans

Lynda Travers is an artist living near the brooding, foggy shores of Grays Harbor, Washington. She prefers watercolors, but does not limit her media. While her “cottage garden” and menagerie of fish, frogs, birds, and dogs inspire stylized paintings, she also enjoys the natural beauty of the outdoors.

These are photos of the 4x6 cards on 140# paper attempting to better showcase the iridescent inks and paints. If you like iridescence and sparkle, then you may like these paintings, “The Enemy of the Anemone” and “Citations for Hurting Cetaceans.”

Millions of gallons of oil, four Hundred wildlife species threatened - these numbers are difficult to imagine. But it is easy and heartbreaking to imagine a brown pelican in the paradise of the blue sky diving unwittingly towards the spill.

This piece is original ink and watercolor, on 2-1/5" by 3-1/2" Fabriano Artistico 140 lb. hot press paper.

I am privileged to have found a beautiful photograph at flickr (at http://www.flickr.com/photos/taylar/4102397142) upon which to base my sketchcard. The photo is by Ingrid Taylar whose inspired photographs of wildlife and nature can also be found at her website, http://www.thefreequark.com .

718. Babe in Arms

The name for my submission is "Babe In Arms" because I drew this with my baby sleeping next to me; and because the animals affected by the spill have become as vulnerable and need as much care, now, as human babies. It breaks my heart to think of all the little bodies covered in that slick. I'm from land-locked Toronto and have never seen the ocean (any ocean!) though I hope to one day with my kids.

Because I work digitally I can provide a high-res, good quality print on card stock for the potential buyer.
