G. 39. SOLD GREAT AMERICAN ILLUSTRATOR - Jesse Joshua Watson

Jesse Joshua Watson is an author and illustrator living in the NW. His latest book, Hope for Haiti will be out this October from Putnam and Ghetto Cowboy from Candlewick, in 2011. See Jesse's work online at www.jessewatson.com

While pondering what to do for this, Jesse drew inspiration from the Grateful Dead song with the same name as this blog. While not traditional card size, these would work for any giant friends you might have (or to frame and put on your wall).

My name is Mando Padilla and I'm a graphic/web designer for a snorkeling/military-diving company by day. I'm also an artist, poet and musician.
Blog "Poetry & Art": www.idreamofmonsters.blogspot.com
My style of art is icon/logo inspired. I like each character to create a memorable impact with bold lines and bright colors. Above is my sketch of a seahorse with my normal "spiral eye". The black-oil-tear represents the sadness of pollution. It was sketched on black paper with woodless color pencil.
I'm happy to contribute to your oilspill cause. The seahorse was inspired by a trip that I took to the Legoland aquarium. While their seahorses are safe, many out in the wild are not.

I am honored to be able to contribute in some small way to help out the wildlife and bring a little smile to those who have received these works and area reminder too of their contribution in this effort."
