Amanda is 9 years old, and when she heard about the oil spill she immediately wanted to help. She loves animals and is glad that her drawing can help raise money to save them.

Amanda, it's so great of you to do your part in helping out the animals being effected by the gulf oil disaster. You are a wonderful example to other children. Lovely job Amanda!!
Amanda - I am the founder of Ripple Kids INC - a nonprofit seeking to inspire kids to take action in their community by publicizing the success of their peers. A Ripple Kid is a kid who has identified an issue and has taken action to resolve it - you! We would love you to register on our site and submit your project so that other kids can see it and get ideas or can help you with your project. www.ripplekids.com - it's free!
Artists care so deeply- that is why we feel the need to create. I take comfort in the efforts we make to help through our art. In light of the tragedy in Japan, I am going to continue to post any artist driven sites for charity here. If you learn of any that I have not posted- email me @ saddleshoes@verizon.net with the link.
What was RIPPLE
"We don't have to feel helpless. We can help. Our small actions together will ripple outward. "
This was the call to "arms" or "pencils" - in this case. We are all artists - children's book illustrators- animators- fine artists and some big hearted kids - who all felt the need to do SOMETHING about the animals effected by the Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill that occured in 04/10. The worst environmental disaster in our nation's history. What made this disaster different? It was man's doing. It was greed's doing. It harmed the innocent creatures who inhabit the waters and bring wonder into our lives. We did this to them and we couldn't sit idly by.
So we all did what we do - we drew, we painted, we created. This blog took on a life of it's own- spread around the world and gave people a place to say "I care" and "I can help".
Please look through - the art is an amazing array of styles and interpretations. Follow links- check out the artists. If you are so moved- donate to the organizations below. Thanks!-Kelly Light
