And all the finger pointing going on now and for years to come won't bring back the Life destroyed in the Gulf.
white ibis sometimes hang out in my front yard, eating bugs out of the lawn. I can't imagine their brilliant white feathers covered in crude. It's all so wrong.

Stephanie Ruble is an artist and writer living in New York. These three
whales are all digital art. The center of the paisley-like swirls are
filled with fishies, sea turtles and jellyfish
I love to visit the beach as often as possible and was devastated to see
the pictures of the oil covered animals. I'm grateful to Kelly for finding
a way for artists to use their talents to make a difference.

Melissa Connolly is a writer, editor, and aspiring artist who lives in Washington, DC. Her pen and ink drawings always include the cats she's known throughout her life: The Mother Kitty, Gordon, Simon, Comet, Ashes, Norman, B.J., and Tigerlily. This weekend, they all helped out with the oil spill cleanup. Like everyone, The Mother Kitty was devastated by the images of the pelicans smothered in oil. She got straight to work! (Comet got a hug from one that he was helping.) Gordon made a new friend he found slithering nearby, while Ashes and B.J. dealt with the shellfish. She had a feisty conversation with the crabs, and he polished off some clams. (Some happy shrimp looked on after their baths.) Simon and Norman were the only ones willing to go into the water. Simon's swam with dolphins, and Norman scouted the deep for any fishes in trouble. (Right now, he's amid some safe schools.) Lily, meanwhile, learned lots from her new friend, Turtle, who is years and years and years older than she is--and all of us!

Seeing the oil continue to stretch further into all corners of the Gulf is tragic. I feel the blues of Louisiana would be the choice music played by the fish living in the Gulf. Ladies, gentlemen, oysters, and sea turtles, the Gulf Band.

671 This is Wrong
My name is Jeff Batt, I am 25 years old and I live in Wilmington, Delaware. You might call me a jack of all trades, master of none. I like to experiment with many different media and my changing style, which means no two pieces look alike. I'll try anything once. More of my artwork can be found here: http://eyeofthedragon.deviantart.com
This piece has more of an urban 'guerilla art' feel to it; rough, edgy and powerful. The black silhouette really drives the message home. Maybe I could make this into a sticker and slap it up in random places to motivate people to action!
The card is 2.5 x 3.5, black paint and ink stencil on textured watercolor paper.
