G 32. SOLD GREAT AMERICAN ILLUSTRATOR- Aaron Zenz

Aaron Zenz is a children's book Author/Illustrator who lives on the West Michigan shoreline. Each card is 3.5" X 5", was created using Prismacolor colored pencils, and features critters from his upcoming book "Chuckling Ducklings" (Spring '11, Walker Books).

What was RIPPLE

"We don't have to feel helpless. We can help. Our small actions together will ripple outward. "

This was the call to "arms" or "pencils" - in this case. We are all artists - children's book illustrators- animators- fine artists and some big hearted kids - who all felt the need to do SOMETHING about the animals effected by the Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill that occured in 04/10. The worst environmental disaster in our nation's history. What made this disaster different? It was man's doing. It was greed's doing. It harmed the innocent creatures who inhabit the waters and bring wonder into our lives. We did this to them and we couldn't sit idly by.

So we all did what we do - we drew, we painted, we created. This blog took on a life of it's own- spread around the world and gave people a place to say "I care" and "I can help".
