David lives in Amherst, Massachusetts, where he writes children’s stories, songs, and plays; goes hiking and cross-country skiing; and continues to fill reams of paper with the characters and images that populate his imagination.

Join us for an afternoon with author and illustrator, David Hyde Costello. David will bring along some original art work, demonstrate his illustration techniques, and read from his inspiring new book, I Can Help at 2pm in the Reading Library. In the spirit of helping others, create a postcard using special papers, watercolor paints and other exciting drawing tools in The Studio. The Carle will send all of the cards from the day to workers helping clean up the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Kelly Light, creator of the blog, http://ripplesketches.blogspot.com will be in The Studio to assist the project.
