I am C.P.Adorio. I am a Sunday painter. I grew up in an island archipelago of more than 7,000 islands, The Philippines. In 1980, the ferry Don Juan collided with an oil tanker that drowned over 250 passengers, among them, my best friend in nursing college. On August 11, 2006, the oil tanker MT Solar I, carrying more than two million liters of bunker fuel, sank off the coast of Guimaras, the island adjacent to Negros Occidental where I was born, causing the worst oil spill in Philippine history. As an emergency nurse in New Jersey and Texas, I have taken care of patients injured by refinery explosions and petroleum storage facilities both in Elizabeth, New Jersey and in Texas. I now live in the gulf coast, in Texas and once again witnessing the worst oil spill in US history. Petroleum is a very important commodity for our livelihood and progress. We need to have safer and more stringent standards in its extraction, refining and delivery. Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to participate in this honorable cause. These are pigment ink and colored pencil drawings on 2.5"x3.5" Bristol boards and I will send them matted on 8"x10" beveled black mats.

Suzanna de Ridder

A little bit about me: I'm 23, recent university grad who decided to do the 4 years all over again at art school, starting in September. Currently filling my time drawing, painting, taking photographs & jumping in puddles.
I lived by the ocean in Halifax, NS for a long time & can't even imagine something like the oil spill happening there. It's so frustrating that we have to rely on the likes of BP to solve this disaster.

"I heard about your efforts last night and knew that I wanted to get involved and got right to it. This little guy is a black-bellied whistling duckling that can be found along the gulf coast and is one of the many critters affected by the gulf oil spill. It's a little art card (2.5"x3.5") that I drew in with a pen and watercolored. I have an artblog called Drawing on Nature ( http://drawingonnature.blogspot.com/ ) in case you wanna check it out.

Thanks Kelly! You show us that we can help in our own way and use our talents for the greater good. Thank you so so much!

My name is Marianne Severin and I live in Zierikzee the Netherlands.
Since I live on an Island I am always surrounded by water. I love water.
An oil spill like in the Gulf is not only devastating for all beautiful animals living in these waters but for all life in this region and on earth.
Nature is precious and getting threatened by human beings, not realizing we have to share the wonders of this earth with future generations. It should be treated as a precious gift........

Please help saving what we have. Please help these defenseless creatures from disaster caused by greed..........

My name is Shalini Raman, and I currently reside in Auburn Hills, Michigan. These are my card contributions to the subject 'Ripple', concerning the Oil Spill.

This is a work in watercolor plus pen. I chose to show some fish here; I just can't imagine how many fish would be suffocated to death since the thick oil on water wouldn't really allow oxygen exchange to occur at the surface of the water. Though I chose to show the pictures more as a one panel cartoons, there is definitely nothing funny about this whole incident.

Black Swan -IF

213.SOLD
This work is a digitally modified version of my original acrylic painting titled
"Black Swan", the painting was named after the title of a book that tries
to describe our human and imperfect reactions to improbable events.

I live in Florida, not far from Pensacola and we're waiting for the larger
oil deposits to arrive on our beaches. The wind and weather have been kind and spared
us for weeks but we are all resigned to our eventual fate.

This 3.5 x 2.5 inch illustration will be printed on glossy photo paper.

This event will impact our lives down here for a very long time - when the media
cycle tires of our stories they will move on to another story, please don't
forget about us.

dwells on Gulf coast beaches - IF

208.SOLD
h.t. yao

I'm an illustrator who also cares very much about animals and preserving their habitat. My sketch shows the American Oystercatcher, a shorebird who dwells on Gulf coast beaches. Their habitat is threatened by the oil spill. According to the National Wildlife Foundation, "the complexity of the Gulf coastline, with numerous bays, estuaries, inlets, marshes and creeks, will make cleanup extremely difficult; impacts could last for decades for much of the habitat, and some species may suffer significant long-term population declines."

The American Oystercatcher card is graphite pencil with digital work (so the card sent will be a digital print)

Penny Noble

Hello this is Penny Noble. I am an artist of all mediums living in Manhattan Beach Ca. I hold the Oceans and all of their creatures in high esteem. This oil spill is so catastrophic that I can not wrap my mind around it. The thought that my art work will in some small way help to make it better makes me smile. I hope to some day illustrate a children's book. Lets hope there are still some creatures in the sea to draw and tell about! The actual art work I have done is 5 3/4 inches tall by 4 1/4 inches wide. It is acrylic on acid free bristol board. Thank you for the opportunity to help maybe this should be an on going thing. I know I would participate as much as I could.
I don't have any links but you can find me on facebook with some examples of my art work.
Thanks again Penny
